Phuket Press Trip (Part 4)

Travelogue

The resort Michael Taylor is staying at, Phuket’s newly opened Andara Resort and Villas, has two Baglietto private motor yachts, the Andara and the Celebrity, which can be booked by hotel guests.

We spent the afternoon on the Celebrity, a 107 foot cruiser with two 1,250 horsepower engines and a maximum cruising speed of 28 knots.

The vessel carries as many as 25 passengers for half or full day charters and 12 guests (eight adults and four children) for overnight charters. Trips of as long as seven days and six nights can be arranged.

There are five cabins: a master suite and two doubles with twin beds. It also accommodates a crew of six, including private chef and hostess.

The dining lounge – I wish that the living room in my 700 square foot Hong Kong flat were so spacious! – is smartly outfitted, accommodating up to 20 guests. There are Samsung TVs and Bose Surround Sound System.

There is a also fully equipped galley. By late afternoon, it was time to head back to land. Things had started to cool down slightly by then and a breeze started to pick up.

Best of all, we knew that cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and a gourmet dinner awaited us by the pool at the Andara Resort & Villas, which overlooks beautiful Kamala Bay.
