Waldorf Astoria: Shanghai Club Reopens as Five Star Hotel

shanghai club, the new waldorf astoria The former Shanghai Club has been fully restored and will henceforth be known as the Waldorf Astoria Club, the first of two buildings that will comprise the Waldorf Astoria Shanghai.

The Waldorf Astoria on the Bund in Shanghai is the first hotel in Asia under Hilton Worldwide’s luxury hotel label, modeled after the legendary Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.

The four storey neo-classical edifice houses 20 suites, which are decorated in classic European style. There are two restaurants, a lounge, and – you guessed it! – a very long bar. It might not be the original, but it has been re-built to the same specifications as the original.

A new tower with 252 rooms is nearing completion on nearby Sichuan Road. It will be connected to the Waldorf-Astoria Club by way of a landscaped courtyard with fountains. It will have two more restaurants, an heated indoor swimming pool, a health club, a spa, and a library.
