If you think the air outside is bad, consider this. Indoor air pollutants can be as much as 100 times worse than the air we breathe outdoors, the United States Environmental Protection Agency says.
Yikes!
That’s a lot of mold and fungi – not to mention bacteria, pollen, viruses, and feces from dust mites to fill your lungs with. And if that doesn’t put you off, an increasing number of people are allergic to the very cleaning agents that are supposed to protect you from all this filth.
Now travelers with allergies, asthma, and similar ailments can rest assured in a small but growing number of hotels that offer rooms that have undergone a step by step purification process that removes 99% of pollutants from the air.
Multi Step Purification Process
Known as Pure Allergy Friendly Rooms, they are the brain child of US based Pure Solutions International. So far, most of the hotels offering Pure rooms are located in the United States.
But that is slowly changing as travelers in other parts of the world – especially in countries with poor air quality – start demanding hypoallergenic rooms. One of the first hotels in Asia to offer such rooms is the Grand Formosa Regent Taipei in Taipei, Taiwan.
Here’s how it works. Allergens are removed from surfaces in the rooms. Air and water are treated. Special hypoallergenic coverings encase pillows and mattresses to protect hotel guests from dust mites. And carpets and upholstery are purified every few months.
