Hospitality
Michael Taylor’s press trip continues as he flies from Bangkok to Koh Samui, Thailand, where he embarks on a whirlwind tour of the island along with 3 other journalists from Hong Kong.
We fly Bangkok Airways to Koh Samui, whose open air terminal has got to be one of the world’s cutest. A van takes us to the Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, a sprawling four star hotel, whose grounds are so spacious, we kept getting lost.
We hardly had time to check in, unpack, and check our email before heading for dinner at Prego, the hotel’s gourmet Italian restaurant.
We were hosted by the hotel’s general manager and the F&B manager. It was a convivial gathering, the food was yummy, and the wine flowed plentifully.
In addition to Prego, the hotel has another restaurant serving Thai and pan-Asian cuisine called Meranté as well as two bars: Pool Bar next to the swimming pool and Bar@c, the perfect spot to watch the sun sink into the Andaman Sea sunset.
The hotel also has a fitness centre and a scuba diving centre. Sivara Spa offers a variety of spa treatments in restful surroundings.
One of the highlights of our stay was taking a cooking class and then consuming the dishes that were prepared for us in Meranté.
