How to Stage a Successful Going Away Party

Roughly 30 friends, relatives, and former colleagues of Heather Barreto gathered Saturday night (16 July 2011) in Macau to bid the former English instructor farewell.

Hosted by two of Heather’s children, Sarah and Timothy Feather, the event was held at the restaurant of the Pousada de Coloane Beach Hotel, which overlooks Cheoc Van Beach on Coloane.

The evening began with some very well chilled Pol Roger Champagne. A sumptuous buffet dinner of yummy Portuguese and Chinese dishes followed, and this was washed down with some excellent red and white wines. It ended with desserts that were simply divine – chocolate mouse, baked apples, and cupcakes made by Sarah’s son, Johnathon.

Insider Tips

Overall, the event was a huge success. So what was the key?

Basically, a successful going away party gets down to five basic ingredients: finding the right venue,  inviting the right people, playing the right music, serving the right food, and offering a free flow of chilled champagne.

Thanks Sarah and Timothy for a great time!
