Preferred Pride Hotels Target Gay and Lesbian Travelers

Rainbow_flag_breeze by benson kua Gay and Lesbian travelers will find a rainbow welcome mat at nearly 100 hotels around the world.

Almost 100 Preferred Hotel Group member hotels in dozens of countries have joined together to create Preferred Pride, a group of independently owned and operated hotels that understand and cater to the specific needs of Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) travelers.

Preferred Pride hotels are offering travelers – whether on business or leisure trips – that “extra level of reassurance many LGBT travelers seek when making their travel decisions,” says a press release issued by the Preferred Hotel Group.

Preferred Pride hotels have also pledged to carry out equal employment opportunities for sexual minorities – including equal insurance and pension benefits – and actively support the LGBT community.

Seal of Approval

"Preferred Pride is more than just another LGBT seal of approval,” says Rick Stiffler, Preferred Hotel Group Executive Director, Leisure Sales.

“The programme was created to unite Preferred's diverse community of independent hoteliers around the world who are committed to the LGBT community."

Diversity training is being offered to hotels to provide insight in best practices in serving the LGBT community from check-in to check-out.

Training suggestions include providing bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries appropriate for same sex couples, having a knowledgeable concierge that can provide a list of the attractions appropriate for LGBT travelers, and including publications that acknowledge the specific guest's interests.
