Phuket: Paresa Offers US$8,888 Diamond Studded Mooncakes!

The Moon Festival falls on Monday this year (12 September 2011), and Paresa, a resort on the island of Phuket in Southern Thailand, is celebrating with a selection of moon cakes that includes the Gold and Diamond Moon Cake (pictured, left), which is priced at a breathtaking US$8,888! And in case you didn’t know, the number eight signifies “striking it rich” in Chinese culture, so this is an especially auspicious price – you can strike it rich four times.

“We have had many couples propose to each other, get married here, honeymoon, or spend an anniversary here at Paresa, so we felt that making this special gold and diamond moon cake would give some of our couples the opportunity to give a very special, unique and memorable moon cake to each other to share,” says Scot Toon the resorts General Manager, Paresa.

The Gold and Diamond Moon Cake is filled with a sweet yellow bean and gold paste with a rich Crème patisserie yolk centre. This is surrounded by a soft and golden baked, cognac scented pastry, and enveloped in gold, topped with a one carat diamond on top.

Just please make sure that you remember to remove the diamond before consumption!

The moon cake is presented in a Thai Silk box and comes with a bottle of Bottega Gold Prosecco from Italy. It is available to order from the resort until the 18 September 2011.
