United States: Top 10 Tech Friendly Airports, Where Is Silicon Valley?

Aviation

Does anybody know the way to San Jose?

Somewhat inexplicably, San Jose Mineta International Airport, which sits at the heart of California’s world famous Silicon Valley, did NOT make the Top 20 list of the most wired airports in the United States.

Nearby Oakland International, however, came in sixth, and San Francisco International came in 10th. Perhaps the dominance of Southwest at OAK and Virgin America at SFO had something to do with this.

Does Busy Mean Better?

Three of the busiest airports in the United States are also the best equipped for travelers with smartphones and laptops, according to this fascinating article, which was published in PC World magazine.

Dallas Fort Worth, New York City’s JFK, and Atlanta – the world’s busiest airport – are all well equipped with electrical outlets, USB ports, work desks, and fast Wi-Fi that keep “tech travelers—especially business travelers—charged up and connected at the gate”, the magazine says.

Among the worst? Techies should avoid Denver International, Washington Dulles, and Boston Logan like the plague. These airports were found to offer slow wireless service and “ meager amenities per gate”.
