Nightlife: World’s Top 10 Party Cities – New York Tops the List!

Entertainment

New York, New York – so nice, they named it twice! And apparently the lyrics to that song, “New York, New York” – got it right. This really IS the city that never sleeps! I mean, like, duh!!! Could 27,000 frequent travelers be wrong?

In a survey by Hotels.com, which questioned 27,000 travelers around the world, the Big Apple was voted the world’s best city for night life. Las Vegas, Nevada, came in second. London, England – a.k.a., the Capital of Cool – came in third.

Where Is Hong Kong?

Conspicuous in its absence from this Top 10 list was Hong Kong, which likes to think of itself as “Asia’s World City”. The Pearl of the Orient – along with Tokyo, Japan, Singapore, and Shanghai – were all missing. Bangkok, Thailand, was, in fact, the only Asian city to make the Top 10 list of best cities for night time entertainment.

Interestingly, people in Hong Kong thought that THEIR city should be number one. They gave New York a distant fifth place – behind themselves, Bangkok, Las Vegas, and Paris, France.

When asked to name the top five party cities in China, however, they ranked Shanghai first, and Hong Kong second. Go figure. Maybe they think that Shanghai is on another planet.

United States – Party Central?

With three cities on the list – New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, California – the United States can lay claim to the title, Party Central. Spain, not surprisingly, comes in second with two – Madrid and Barcelona.

One of the biggest surprises, perhaps, is the absence of cities in Latin America. Surely Havana, Cuba, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, should have been represented.
