Business is up but room rates are down at properties in the Small Luxury Hotels of the World group. Following the group’s best ever performance in 2013, there was a 6% increase in room nights booked during the first quarter of 2013.
Average room rates, however, declined by 4% to US$330 as travelers continue to watch their pennies.
“In 2012 we had a lot to talk about – to have our most successful year to date in the middle of a global recession is no small feat,” says Paul Kerr, Chief Executive Officer for SLH.
“The team this year has lofty goals, and that is to build on the success of 2012. Fortunately we are reaching those goals and the main reason is our guest recognition club.”
