Ricky Liau is off to the French Riviera, where he will compete against the world’s best bartenders after taking first place in the Hong Kong Final of the Diageo Reserve World Class Bartender of the Year competition on 14 May 2013.
Ricky works at of Wyndham the 4th in SoHo on Hong Kong Island. The competition was held in a private suite at W Hong Kong in West Kowloon.
“Winning Diageo Reserve World Class Hong Kong best bartender is an incredible honour,” Ricky says.
“The level of competition and cocktail mastery from my peers is second to none. It’s inspiring to compete and learn alongside bartenders that are as passionate about their craft as I am.”
The World Class Global Final will be held aboard the cruise ship Azamara Journey on a voyage through the Mediterranean from 4 through 9 July 2013.
“In addition, it’s gratifying to be recognized by the world’s most prestigious mixology competition, but even more so to see the bar tending industry develop and receive the global recognition and respect it deserves,” Ricky says.
“This is the next step in the journey to becoming the greatest bartender in the world and I can’t wait to represent Hong Kong at the Global Final.”
