Hong Kong: Four Hotels With Best Views of Florentijin Hofman’s Rubber Duck

Travel Tips

Time is running out to view the 16.5 meter tall Rubber Duck, which was created by Dutch Artist Florentijn Hofman. It will remain anchored in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour through 9 June 2013.

If you are planning a trip to Hong Kong to see the inflatable installation, which has been dubbed “Spreading Joy Around the World”, make sure to book a hotel room with a harbour view – preferably one within walking distance of the installation (on the Kowloon side of Victoria Harbour) or a Star Ferry Terminal (on the Hong Kong side, there are two)!

According to Hotels.com, the following four hotels offer the best views of the Rubber Duck. May we add – if you’re booking a hotel room on the Hong Kong side of the harbour, you might want to bring binoculars!

Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel

The Marco Polo Hong Kong Hotel is located in Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui district. It is connected to the Harbour City Mall. Book a room with a harbour view for a close-up view of the rubber duck. Avenue of the Stars, the Star Ferry, several shopping malls, several museums, Hullett House, and the Hong Kong Cultural Centre are all within walking distance.

Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong

The Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong is situated across Victoria Harbour from the installation so bring your binoculars. It is situated near the International Finance Center, one’s of Hong Kong’s largest and most exclusive shopping malls. It is within walking distance of the Star Ferry Terminal in Central for a quick trip across the harbour to see the Rubber Duck up close and personal.

Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong

The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, is one of Hong Kong’s most exclusive addresses. Located in Central on Hong Kong Island, it offers views of the duck – but you might want to bring your binoculars, and make sure to ask for a room with a view of the harbour. There is a direct link to Prince’s Building, one of Hong Kong’s toniest shopping malls. Lan Kwai Fong is a short walk from the hotel. The Star Ferry Terminal, however, is a bit of a hike.

Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong

Located in the Wanchai district on Hong Kong Island, the Renaissance Harbour View has a view of the Rubber Duck from its harbour-view rooms. Again, bring your binoculars. The Wanchai Star Ferry Terminal is within walking distance of the hotel. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is also located nearby.

If you can’t afford to stay in a hotel room with a view, a couple of the food and beverage outlets at Harbour City Ocean Terminal also offer views of the Rubber Duck, and some of them have outdoor seating.
