Qufu in China’s Shandong Province is the birthplace of Chinese philosopher Confucius. The Shangri-La Hotel Group will open a luxurious five star hotel in the fabled city on 1 August 2013.
It will be the city’s first international standard five star hotel.
Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu, is situated within walking distance of three of the city’s most important tourist attractions: the Temple of Confucius, the Mansion of Confucius, and the Cemetery of Confucius.
All three of these tourist attractions are UNESCO World Heritage Cultural Sites.
Eight Great Cuisines of China
Shandong Province is home of Lu Cuisine, one of China’s Eight Great Regional Cooking Styles. Shang Palace, the hotel’s signature restaurant, will serve Lu Cuisine as well as Cantonese Cuisine, another one of China’s legendary Eight Great Cuisines.
“Re-imagined” dishes from the Kong Family will also figure prominently on the restaurant’s menu.
The Shangri-La Hotel, Qufu, will also feature Café Kong, an all-day casual dining venue serving international dishes cooked in open kitchens, and the Lobby Lounge, which will offer an extensive tea menu.
Free Internet Access
The hotel will have 211 guest rooms. Facing the Yi River, they have balconies offering views of the old city wall, the Temple of Confucius,and the hotel’s traditional Chinese landscaped garden.
All the rooms and the public areas throughout the hotel will offer complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access.
The hotel will also have lavish facilities for conferences and weddings.
