An international convention centre will be built in Auckland, New Zealand. The NZ$315 million New Zealand International Convention Centre will be designed, built, and operated by the  Skycity Entertainment Group.

The convention  centre will accommodate up to 3,500 convention delegates at one time.

The New Zealand International Convention Centre is expected to open in mid to late 2017. It will be located in the heart of Auckland’s Central Business District. It will be within walking distance of more than 4,700 hotel rooms and numerous shopping and restaurant districts.

“Holding an event in New Zealand would exceed all visitor expectations,” says Tourism New Zealand’s Chief Executive Kevin Bowler.

“Where else in the world do you find world class conferencing facilities close to crystal-clear waters or where you can be exploring a stunningly rugged rainforest one hour and sailing on an America’s Cup yacht in a glorious harbour setting the next?”

With a population of 1.5 million people, Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city. It has non-stop flights to 22 domestic and 33 international travel destinations.

Auckland can be reached from eastern Australia in three hours. It is an overnight flight from the western United States. It can be reached from most Hong Kong, Shangai, Singapore, and Tokyo in about 10 hours.
