Hindi film heartthrob Shahid Kapoor will join Bollywood bigshot Shahrukh Khan in hosting the 14th annual International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, which will take place this Saturday (6 July 2013) at The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.
“The line-up of performers this year is amazing, and they really represent the wonderful facets of Indian Cinema,” says Sabbas Joseph – Director, Wizcraft International Entertainment Ltd.
“We have the classic leading ladies that have played an important role in shaping our Cinema on the same stage as the new crop of superstars that will shape its future.”
But it won't all be just Bollywood Bling. The three day bash, which will get underway tomorrow (4 July), will also include press conferences, media briefings, a music workshop, an acting workshop, a fashion show, and a fair bit of consciousness raising.
“In 2013, IIFA embraces the cause of women empowerment and equality,” a spokeperson for the organizers says.
“In partnership with TATA TEA’s Jaago Re Campaign, IIFA aims to create a social awakening among Indian women about the change they can bring with the true power of their vote, women being 49% of the voter base in the country. Emphasizing the significance of their strength in numbers, the campaign emphasizes ‘The Power of 49’.”
And talk about a coup for The Venetian Macao!
Rumour has it that the integrated resort is a big hit with India's rich and famous, and what better proof of it do you need than a repeat performance such as this?
The awards were also held at the intergrated resort a couple of years back.
“The Venetian Macao is extremely honoured to have the opportunity to host the illustrious IIFA Awards and is delighted to welcome Indian celebrities to Macau and to our integrated resort city for the second time this July,” says Brendon Elliott, Vice President of Sales & Resort Marketing, Venetian Macau Limited.
“Our iconic Venetian resort has proven to be a destination of choice for Indian travellers, renowned for its quality dining, duty-free shopping and family-friendly entertainment. I have no doubt that this star-studded show will be just as successful and glamorous as it has always been over the years.”
