Lunar New Year
Accor Hotels throughout Australia and New Zealand are laying out the Red Carpet for Chinese travelers flying Down Under to celebrate the Lunar New Year in either one of the two countries.
The lobbies of all of the 52 Accor Hotels in Australia and New Zealand will be decorated with red lanterns to usher in the Year of the Horse. Hotel guests will also receive red envelopes at turn down.
Accor Hotels launched an Optimum Service Standards programne for Chinese inbound travelers in 2011. More than 50 hotels in the group have been accredited to the programme so far.
Chinese Language Newspapers
The Optimum Service Standards include Mandarin speaking staff, Chinese language translations of hotel welcome kits, business cards, area maps, and in-room menus.
Adaptor plugs for electronics equipment and Chinese newspapers are also provided.
Chinese Dishes
Hotel mini-bars stock Chinese teas. Chinese dishes such as congee, soups, and noodles are also served at hotel breakfast buffets.
Chinese style utensils – such a porcelain spoons and chopsticks – are also available to make Asian diners feel right at home.
"Since the launch of the programme two years ago, we have already seen the impact that our Chinese Optimum Service Standards have made in terms of bookings,” says Accor Chief Operating Officer Pacific Simon McGrath.
“In those two years we have recorded a 20% increase in market share from wholesale and online point of sale and a 31% growth to Accor year on year compared with the national growth of 17%."
With the growing number of Chinese tourists traveling abroard, an increasingly number of hotels in Asia, Europe, and North America have been laying out the welcome mat with Chinese speaking staff and food optons that will appeal to Chinese diners.
