Travelogue: Overview of the Elephant Safari Lodge in Taro, Bali

Balinese Adventure Part 20

Michael Taylor’s Balinese Adventure has ended in real time, but it continues in Cyberspace. Today he reviews what has got to be the most unique hotel he has ever stayed at: The Elephant Safari Park Lodge in Taro, Bali.

The Elephant Safari Park Lodge Taro-Bali is situated in the Elephant Safari Park, which is located in the village of Taro, not far from Ubud, one of Bali’s most popular travel destinations.

Guests staying at the lodge have unlimited and complimentary access to the park, which comprises 3.5 hectares of botanical gardens, national forest, and parkland for elephants.

As you can imagine, the grounds make an ideal spot for weddings and other festive occasions!

Accommodation

The lodge has 27 rooms. Included are park view rooms, garden view rooms, paddy view rooms, the luxurious Taro Suite, and The Apartment. Eight of the rooms have balconies.

I stayed in a corner garden view room, which was tastefully furnished with beige walls, hardwood floors, dark wood accents, and sumptuous textiles. A subtle elephant theme was carried out through the unit.

The marble bathroom was located down a few steps, adding a welcome sense of privacy.

The particularly liked the traditional Balinese style woven cathedral ceiling – just one of the many memorable touches.

Facilities

Yummy buffet breakfasts were included with my room. They are served at the Mammoths Head Terrace, Bar and Lounge, which also serves lunch and dinner.

Other food and beverage outlets include the Palm Grove and the Park Restaurant and Bakery.

I had dinner under the stars on my first night. I thought it was one of the best meals of my 30 day visit to Bali.

The night I ate there, I could order from a mouth-watering set menu. I was told that when more guests were present, buffet dinners were served.

Other facilities include a spa, a fitness centre, a gift shop, a museum,. a small swimming pool, and a helipad for VIP guests.

The highlight of staying at the lodge is the chance to get up close and personal with the pachyderms! More on that tomorrow!
