An on-line travel agency has launched exclusive tours to a carefree island in Indonesia that has no cars. While there, you can take scuba diving lessons at one of the world’s top scuba-diving schools – or just plain relax.
Backyard Travel has launched 4-day, 3-night tours of Gili Trawangan, one of Southeast Asia’s lesser known leisure travel destinations.
The largest of the 3 Gili Islands, Gili Trawangan remains largely unspoiled by development. It has yet to be discovered by multinational hotel chains.
You won’t even find any cars there. It remains car-free and motor-scooter-free! So how do you get around? On foot, on bicycle, or by horse-drawn carriage – at least, so we have been told.
But for how much longer?
And check this out: if you’re noise sensitive, you won’t even find any dogs on the island! But you will find people. An increasing number of independent travelers are finding Gili Trawangan irresistible.
Scuba Diving Lessons
On day one you can learn how to scuba dive at one of the world’s top scuba diving schools. The rest of your time there you can do whatever you want to do – even if that means doing nothing!
“A great number of Indonesia’s islands resemble paradise, but few hold the charm and captivating aura of the Gilis,” says Backyard Travel’s General Manager Maeve Nolan.
“We hope this short breach break trip to Gili Trawangan will offer island lovers the perfect chance to enjoy this laid-back paradise destination to supplement their Indonesian holiday experience.”
An on-line travel agency, Backyard Travel is based in Bangkok, Thailand. It offers tours to Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
