China: Top 10 Golden Week Travel Destinations for Chinese Travellers

Taipei, Seoul, and Bangkok top the list of overseas travel destinations for Chinese travellers planning trips during China’s National Day Golden Week Holiday, which run from 1 through 7 October 2014.

Asian cities dominated the Top 10 List of travel destinations most popular with Chinese tourists planning trips during the upcoming Golden Week National Day Holiday, which runs from 1 though 7 October 2014.

Taiwan, Taiwan, came in first according the data from Hotels.com. Seoul, Korea, came in 2nd.

Coming in 3rd was Bangkok, one of 4 Thai cities to make the Top 10 List. Other travel destinations in Thailand included Phuket, which came in 6th, Chiang Mai, which came in 8th, and Koh Samui, which came in 10th.

Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo, Japan, came in 4th, 5th, and 7th place respectively.

Paris, France, was the only non-Asian travel destination to make the list, coming in at 9th place.

According to the  survey, Chinese tourists account for roughly one-third of business income at 86% of hotels in Thailand.

More than 80% of hotels in Thailand reported an increase in the number of Chinese travellers in 2013, with 96% of those reporting an increase saying it had been as high as 75%.

Because of the growing importance of Chinese travellers, 41% of hotels in Thailand have invested as much as US$10,000 in developing programmes specifically targeted at Chinese travellers.
