Hong Kong Wine and Dine Month kicks off with a 4 day outdoor festival on the Kowloon waterfront followed by a wine and spirits fair, street parties, and food and beverage promotions at hotels and restaurants all over town.
Hong Kong Wine and Dine Month kicks off with the Hong Kong Wine and Dine Festival, which will run from 30 October through 2 November 2014.
More than than 200 wine and 100 gourmet food booths will be set up on the former runway of the now defunct Kai Tak International Airport, which juts dramatically into Victoria Harbour.
There will also be live music, entertainment, and other activities.
Street fairs will be held along the waterfront at Stanley on Hong Kong Island on 9, 16, 23, and 30 November and on Food Street at Fashion Walk in Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island on 15 November.
November is one of the better months to visit Hong Kong. The average daily high is 23 degrees Centigrade (or 73 degrees Fahrenheit). The average low is 17 degrees C (or 63 degrees F). Humidity levels and the chance of rain are also low.
Wine and Spirits Fair
More than 1,000 exhibitors from around the world are expected at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, which will be held from 6 to 8 November (trade only the first 2 days) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on Hong Kong Island.
This year’s fair will feature more than 70 events. Highlights will include the Wine Industry Conference, the Gala Wine Dinner, the Ice Bar, and the Wine Gallery.
The fair is open to the trade only during the first 2 days. It is open to the public of the final day. More than 23,000 visitors attended the final day last year.
Food and Beverage Promotions
More than 100 hotels and restaurants throughout Hong Kong Island, the Kowloon Peninsula, and the New Territories will offer special wine and dine promotions throughout the month of November – with some lasting into December.
The Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui, in Kowloon, for example, will offer connoisseurs the chance to savour some of the world’s leading vintage wines from Bordeaux while learning the secrets behind the use of ‘tastevin’ silverware, which is said ‘to magnify the wines at its noblest’.
