United States: Middle Eastern Airline to Launch Flights Between Abu Dhabi and Dallas

Etihad Airways launches nonstop flights linking its hub in the United Arab Emirates with its code-share partner American Airlines’ most important hub at Dallas/Fort Worth in the United States. 

Etihad Airways of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will launch nonstop service linking the airline’s hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport, the world’s 7th busiest airport, with Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport in the United States, the world’s 8th busiest airport.

DFW is the most important hub airport in the American Airlines network, the world’s largest airline in terms of passengers carried and miles flown. It is the world’s 5th largest airline in terms of revenue.

The 2 airlines are code share partners, which will allow for easy transfers in both the US and the UAE.

Dubai International Airport has been ranked the best airport in the Middle East by Skytrax.

It isthe UAE-based airline’s most important Middle Eastern hub. From there, passengers can connect to flights destined for Africa, the Asia Pacific, and the Middle East.

Thrice weekly flights will begin on 3 December 2014. Owing to strong initial demand, the UAE-based airline will upgade that to a daily service on 16 April 2015.

“Our Dallas/Fort Worth service was announced at the end of last year, and the market response has been extremely strong,” says James Hogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways.

“To meet the needs of travellers flying into and out of Texas, we will increase our frequency sooner than expected on the route, with daily flights commencing from April 2015.”

More than 62 million passengers fly through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport every year. Most of them makes plane changes there, with connecting passengers accounting for the lion’s share of traffic.

The airline will operate a Boeing 777-200LR (long range) airplane on the route between Dubai and Dallas/Fort Worth. There will be 8 seats in First Class, 40 seats in Business Class, and 177 seats in Economy Class.
