China: Hotel in Shanghai Offers Classes on English Etiquette

Hospitality

A 5 star hotel in Shanghai launches classes in English dining etiquette. Taught by a leading expert in etiquette and royal protocol, they are targeted at business leaders and local celebrities.

Proper deportment, correct tea service, how to eat pastry, the duties of guest and host, how to orchestrate a dinner party – these are some of the finer points of English etiquette taught at the Langham Xintiandi Shanghai by an English finishing school.

Two classes are offered. The first covers traditional afternoon tea. The second covers dinner parties. They are taught by William Hanson, an expert in etiquette and royal protocol.

The first classes in English etiquette were held on 15 August 2014. The next classes will be held on 22 November.

Langham 101

The Langham Xintiandi Shanghai is located in the city’s trendy Xintiandi district. The hotel has 357 rooms, several food and beverage outlets, a spa, and a 24 hour fitness centre.

The first Langham Hotel opened in London, England, in 1865. It was the first hotel to offer afternoon tea.

There are now several Langham Hotels in Greater China and other travel destinations around the world. Many of them serve traditional English tea in their lobby lounges.
