Qatar Airways launches Xtra Wide Body Airbus jetliner on the Doba – Frankfurt route on 15 January 2014. The airline has 80 of the technologically advanced aircraft on order.

Qatar Airways is the global launch airline for the Airbus A350 XWB (Xtra Wide Body). The technologically advanced airliner will go into service on 15 January 2015 on the Doha, Qatar – Frankfurt, Germany route.

The airline's Airbus A350 XWBs feature a 2 class configuration. There are 36 lie flat seats in Business Class in a 1-2-1 arrangement and 247 seats in Economy Class in a 3-3-3 arrangement.

In addition to a state of the art entertainment system, the airliner has advanced air-conditioning technology, LED mood lighting, and in-flight Wi-Fi connectivity,

As the airliner's launch airline, Qatar Airways played a siginificant role in the aircraft's design. More than 70% of its airframe is made from advanced materials combining composites, titanium, and advanced aluminium alloys.

An innovative carbon fibre plastic fuselage reduces lower consumption and allows for easier maintenance.

Qatar Airways operates an all-Airbus fleet of 146 aircraft. The airline has 80 Airbus A350s on order. It flies to 146 travel destinations on 6 continents.
