The San Francisco Giants, winners of the 2014 World Series, have extended their partnership with budget air carrier Virgin America through 2018.

The San Francisco Giants also won the World Series in 2010 and 2012. Before moving to San Francisco in 1958, the New York Giants won the World Series 4 times: in 1905, 1921, 1922, and 1933.

The Giants have made more appearances in the World Series than any other National League team, but other teams have won more championships.

Cross-town rivals, the Brooklyn Dodgers, moved to Los Angeles the same year that the New York Giants moved to San Francisco.

The rivalry between the 2 teams contiued following their move to the West Coast. Both baseball teams continue to have a following in the Big Apple.

Official Airline

As the Major League Baseball team's official airline, Virgin America will have "co-branding" rights at San Francisco's waterfront ATandT Park, which includes a customized suite in right field above McCovery Cove.

"As the only airline headquartered in the Bay Area we, alongside all our flyers, had the opportunity to cheer on our hometown champions as they earned their 3rd World Championship in 5 years," says Luanne Calvert, Chief Marketing Officer of Virgin America.

The airline's headquarters are located in Burlingame, California, which is a short distance from San Francisco International Airport, which is located in San Mateo.

The World Series Championship trophy will go on display at Finnerty's Bar in Manhattan on 24 February 2015. After departing from New York, the trophy will be taken on a tour of the United States.

"We are thrilled to extend this partnership and look forward to many more years of success for the team," Luanne says.

"We can't think of a better way to celebrate than kicking-off the East Coast leg of the Trophy Tour in style onboard Virgin America."
