The Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, reopens following an extensive renovation, which includes a liberal use of bamboo and rattan in keeping with the legendary watering hole's name.
Audrey Hepburn, Louis Armstrong, and Mick Jagger are among the many high profile patrons that have taken a tibble in the Bamboo Bar at the Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok.
And their photos – along with those of many other celebrities – grace the legendary watering hole's walls.
Opened in 1953, the bar recently underwent an extensive renovation, with a liberal use of bamboo and rattan in keeping with the bar's name.
“Our objective was to weave the past into the future," says the hotel's General Manager, Amanda Hyndman.
"Old friends will recognise familiar pieces throughout the space that create a real sense of place. The new design better meets the changing needs of our sophisticated clientele, offering more intimate seating and comfort, and clever integration of the outdoor space and the adjacent Cigar Divan.”
There is live jazz most nights. The bar has one of Bangkok's most extensive collections of single malt Scotch whskies.
