Sports: Top Coolest Spot to Root for the Warriors (Other than the Arena)

National Basketball Association

After sweeping the New Orleans Pelicans in 4 hardly fought games, the Golden State Warriors get set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies in round 2 of the NBA playoffs. Where’s the coolest spot in Oaktown to root for the Dubs?

When the Golden State Warriors take on the Memphis Grizzlies at Oracle Arena on Sunday 3 May 2015, there will be 19,000 + fans wearing yellow T-shirts screaming their heads off.

And many of these die-hard basketball fans will have spent hundreds if not thousands of dollars for the priviledge.

But there is an alternative for those unable to get – or afford – a ticket to the game, and I’m not talking about your living room or even your neighborhood sports bar, of which Oakland has many.

I’m talking about the New Parkway Theatre, which is broadcasting all Golden State Warriors’ NBA playoff games in the 2015 basketball season. The price for 2nd round tickets is a very reasonable US$7.50!

“These games sell out so we strongly encourage you to purchase advance tickets as soon as possible,” the theatre says on its website.

Picture Pizza Pub

The theatre describes itself as a “picture pizza pub” with comfortable seating, which runs from sofas and arm chairs to foot stools and bean bags.

There are even a few coffee tables!

With its own kitchen, the theatre sells what it calls “an eclectic mix of diner style comfort food,” which can be eaten in the cafe or while sitting in the theatre.

There are also 12 “rotating taps” with a selection of beer, cider, and wine sourced from within 200 miles of Oakland.

No outside food or drink is allowed.

Where

The New Parkway Theatre, 474 – 24th Street, Oakland, California. Telephone: (510) 658-7900.

The theatre is downtown Oakland’s Uptown district. It is not far from Lake Merritt, Jack London Square, Uptown, Grand Lake, Piedmont Avenue, College Avenue, and other happening spots around town.

If you ask me, it looks like a HELLA good spot to root for the Warriors!
