Singapore: Art Week Set for 16 – 24 January 2016

More than 100 events will be held throughout the Lion City during Singapore Art Week, which runs from 16 to 24 January 2016. Included will be art fairs, art tours, gallery openings, special exhibitions, and panel discussions.

Artists, art collectors, art galleries, and art lovers from throughout Asia and around the world will travel to Singapore to participate in Singapore Art Week, which will run from 16 to 24 January 2016.

More than 100 events will take place at Singapore Art Week. In addition to art fairs, gallery openings, special exhibitions, and panel discussions, there will be art tours, film screenings, and special performances.

Events will be held at art galleries, exhibition spaces, and other venues throughout Singapore. Most of the events will be clustered in the following locations …

  • Artspace@Helutrans, a collection of former industrial buildings and open spaced housing independent art galleries.
  • Bras Basah and Bugis, home to the Singapore Art Museum, the National Museum of Singapore, historic landmarks, art galleries, and art schools. Cafes, art spaces, and boutiques are also located nearby.
  • Chinatown, one of Singapore’s oldest and most fascinating neighborhoods, full of restaurants, boutiques, clan associations, and religious venues.
  • Civic District , where some of Singapore’s most iconic colonial era buildings are clustered, including the Asian Civilisations Museum, the Old Parliament House, and the Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
  • Gillman Barracks, a former military barracks that was converted into a contemporary arts cluster in 2012. It is also home to the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore.
  • Kampong Glam, a melting pot of culture and heritage architecture.
  • Marina Bay, home to Singapore’s most stylish new hotels, a large waterfront park, and the Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.
  • Orchard Road and Demsey Hill, where art galleries and displays of public art sit cheek-and-jowl with high end shopping malls and 5 star hotels.

Guides will take art lovers to important venues around the city through the Art Trails initiative.

Art Stage Singapore will be Singapore Art Week’s anchor event. Connecting the world to the best of Asian contemporary art, the fair helps promote increased market activity throughout Southeast Asia by attracting some of the world’s most influential private art collectors, corporate buyers, and other VIPs.
