The Los Angeles Rams are returning to Los Angeles, California, following a two decade road trip in St. Louis, Missouri. American Airlines is forming a marketing partnership with the National Football League team.
The partnership with the Los Angeles Rams is part of the airline”s growing presence in the Southern California metropolis, where it maintains a major hub at Los Angeles International Airport.
American Airlines operates more than 220 flights to 70 travel destinations – both domestic and international – from LAX.
The airline has redesigned its Flagship Lounge at the airport.
Other California cities served by American Airlines include Fresno/Yosemite, Oakland, Ontario, Orange County, Palm Spring, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, and San Jose.
Asia Pacific Expansion
The air carrier is aggressively expanding its presence in the Asia Pacific.
Flights to Auckland, New Zealand; Sydney, Australia; and Tokyo Haneda Airport in Japan were launched in 2015.
New service to Hong Kong (HKG) will commence on 7 September 2016.
Los Angeles is one of nine American Airlines’ hubs scattered about the United States.
The airline also maintains hubs in Charlotte, North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas; Miami, Florida; New York, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Phoenix, Arizona; and Washington, DC.
This is not the first marketing partnership that American Airlines has formed with professional sports franchises in the United States.
- American Airlines partnered the Chicago Cubs of Major League Baseball in 2015.
- American Airlines partnered with the Los Angeles Clippers of the National Basketball Association (NBA) the same year.
As the Official Airline of the Los Angeles Rams, the airline’s logo will appear in the stadium at home games and in TV, radio, and print advertising.
The airline with also take part in Rams-branded activities and events during football season.
The Los Angeles Rams were founded in 1937. The football team has won three World Championships. They have sent 29 football players to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Three other California cities have teams in the National Football League, and each one has partnered with a different airline.
- Hawaiian Airlines is the official airline of the Oakland Raiders.
- United Airlines is the official airline of the San Francisco 49ers.
- Delta Air Lines is the official airline of the San Diego Chargers.
