Hong Kong Disneyland Plans Major Expansion with Exclusive Attractions

Hong Kong Disneyland announces a major expansion of the park with attractions, themed areas, and entertainment venues that will be exclusive to the Hong Kong park.

Sleeping Beauty Castle will be re-imagined into an entertainment hub with daily and nightly shows celebrating all princes and princesses that ever wished upon a star.

Six new attractions are planned at Hong Kong Disneyland. At least one new attraction will open yearly between 2017 and 2020.

The attractions will be exclusive to the Hong Kong theme park

Following a two-year hiatus, a final attraction – the largest of the lot – will open in 2023.

More Marvel Super Heroes, an expanded and re-imagined castle, a frozen themed area with characters from the kingdom of Arendelle, and an Adventureland Show Place.

The announcement comes less than six months after Shanghai Disneyland opened in China’s largest city.

Many people in Hong Kong feared that the opening of a second and much larger Disney theme park in Greater China would relegate the Hong Kong park to secondary status.

News that Disney plans to create attractions that will be exclusive to Hong Kong Disneyland will surely be welcomed by tourism officials in the former Brtish Crown Colony.
