The Langham, Hong Kong, Hosts AIDS Concern Gala Fund-raising Dinner

The 27th Anniversary AIDS Concern annual fund raising gala dinner will be held on Friday 17 November 2017 at The Langham, Hong Kong. Fundraising drinks and dinner set menus will be served from 1 November to 1 December in two of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets.

The AIDS Concern Annual Gala Dinner 2017 will be held at the ballroom of The Langham, Hong Kong on 17 November. The theme will be “Silk and Studs”.

Executive Chef Pedro Samper and his culinary team will serve a four-course red set dinner at the Bostonian Seafood and Grill. The menu will include …

Starter – Cured Salmon Tartare with avocado, salmon roe, pickled red onion, crème fraiche, and purple shiso, followed by the signature Bostonian Lobster Bisque.

Soup – Bostonian's signature Lobster Bisque.

Main Course – Wagyu Beef Cheek with beetroot puree and crunch, heirloom carrots, red sorrel in red wine sauce.


Dessert – Red Berries Charlotte with pink lady finger sponge, red berries mousse, mix berries and raspberry sorbet.


Cocktails – Artesian mixologist Joe Chan and his fashionable bar crew have created two red cocktails to celebrate the month of red.

Pink Power (left) is a bubbly drink filled with lychee liqueur, rose syrup and prosecco, with a rose petal elegantly floating on top.

Red Ribbon (right) with a peach vodka base, blended with grapefruit and lemon juices, elderflower liqueur, passion fruit, peach and grenadine syrup, garnished with grapefruit peel twist akin to the AIDS Concern logo.

The Eat Red dinner menu is priced at HK$480 per person while both cocktails are priced at HK$80 each.

All dining offers are available from 1 November to 1 December 2017 (World AIDS Day) and subject to a ten per cent service charge.

Ten per cent of the proceeds of the dining offers will be donated to AIDS Concern for its education and prevention programme.

Female Impersonator Shane Gilberto Jenek, a.k.a. Courtney Act, will perform during the AIDS Concern annual fund raising gala dinner to be held on Friday 17 November 2017 at The Langham, Hong Kong. 

A limited number of tickets are still available for HK $30,000/ 25,000/ 20,000 each table.

Courtney is an Australian drag queen, pop singer, entertainer, and reality show personality.

Born in Brisbane, Australia, Shane moved to Sydney at the age of 18, originally planning to use "Ginger  Le'Bon" as a stage name, but settled on Courtney Act, which was a pun on the expression "caught in the act". Courtney  was a semi-finalist on Australian idol in 2003. 

AIDS Concern Hong Kong

Founded in 1990, AIDS Concern was the first non-government charity and volunteer organization committed to the services of AIDS care in Hong Kong.

Its vision to see Hong Kong with Triple Zero HIV infections and in fighting stigma, discrimination and improving quality of life for people living with HIV and AIDS.

According to AIDS Concern’s Chief Executive, Andrew Chidgey, two new people are being infected with AIDS in Hong Kong every day.

“The positive news on HIV is that in some international cities including San Francisco and London, HIV rates are now beginning to fall. It’s AIDS Concern’s ambition for Hong Kong to be one of the first cities in ASIA to have a falling infection rate,” Andrew says.
