Perth Hotel Offers Seaplane Adventure to Wine Country

A heritage hotel in Perth, Australia, is offering a seaplane adventure that includes a low-level coastal flight from Perth to the Margaret River in one of Australia’s premier wine-producing regions. Two nights accommodation, winery visits, and four meals are included.

Como The Treasury in Perth, Australia, is a five-start hotel housed in a collection of heritage structures that have been meticulously restored. They originally served as government buildings.

The hotel is offering a two-night package that includes a low-level coastal flight by seaplane from the Swan River in Perth to the Margaret River Wine Region, which is in one of Australia’s premier wine-producing zones.

The five-hour tour includes stops to sample local produce, check out the coast, and visit two wineries. A sit-down lunch is included.

Following the tour, guests return to Como The Treasury, where they enjoy a share-style dinner at the hotel’s Petition Kitchen. Daily breakfast at Post is included in the package, which runs from 1 December 2017 to 30 April 2018.

Swan River Seaplanes offers seaplane tours to the Margaret River wine region as well as Rottnest Island and The Pinnacles.

Planes take off from the Swan River, which bisects the city of Perth, offering a bird’s-eye view of the city. Low-altitude flights then continue over King’s Park and Perth’s leafy suburbs.

Located 277 kilometres (172 miles) south of Perth, the Margaret River Wine Region is known for its premium wines.

Attracting about 500,000 visitors annually, the spectacularly beautiful region is also known for its excellent surfing beaches.

The Hotel

Located in the heart of Perth, the hotel is housed in the 19th-century State Buildings, which formerly served as a post office, land titles office, and treasury.

The Victorian-era facade has been beautifully restored while the interior was been turned into a stylish hotel, transforming some of the existing interior spaces into new uses.

The franking room of the old General Post Office, for example, has been repurposed into a food and beverage outlet.

The hotel guest rooms, however, have all of the comforts and amenities that you would expect of a modern, first class hotel.

The hotel has 48 rooms and suites. They have king-size beds over-sized windows. Bathrooms have heated floors, heated towel racks, twin vanities, and separate walk-in showers and bathtubs

Rooms run from 55 square metres (592 square feet) to 70 square metres (754 square feet). Some rooms have balconies.

Suites measure from 80 square metres (861 square feet) to 120 square metres (1,292 square feet).

Food + Beverage

Wildflower – located on the fourth floor, Wildflower is an outdoor eatery offering views of the Swan River. It serves contemporary cuisine using fresh produce from Western Australia. Open for lunch and dinner.

Post – located in the franking room of the General Post Office (pictured above), the Post serves classic Italian fare with a modern take. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Treasury Lounge and Bar – spanning three interconnected rooms, the Treasury Lounge and Bar is located on the ground floor. It serves signature cocktails and afternoon tea.

Facilities

The hotel has a full-service spa with four treatment rooms, a 20 metre heated indoor swimming pool, and a gym.

A full menu of healing and holistic treatments are offered. Personal trainers are available.

The hotel is located at the corner of St. Georges Terrace and Barrack Street in the Cathetral Square district in the heart of Perth.

King’s Park and Elizabeth Quay are both just a short walk from the hotel.

The capital of Western Australia, Perth is the fourth most populous city in Australia. It is located in the southwestern corner of the country along the shores of the Swan River.

Next to Honolulu, Hawaii, Perth is the world’s most isolated major city. It is actually closer to Jakarta, Indonesia, than it is to Sydney, Brisbane, and Canberra.
