Cinco de Mayo is this Saturday 5 May, and Mexican food fans in Japan will be wolfing down Mexican fare in taquerias, cantinas, and restaurantes mexicanos throughout the land.

And they will be accompanying them with lots of tequila shots and Margaritas. The only question will be: frozen or on the rocks?

And Tokyo is no exception!

Whether it is Mexican City-style street food, Baja California-style seafood, or Tex-Mex, , you will be spoiled for choice in the Japanese capital.

What’s interesting about Cinco de Mayo, which means’ “May Fifth” in Spanish, is that it is actually much more popular in the United States than it is in Mexico, where it is celebrated in only one state: Puebla.
