Dragon Wind is one of three food and beverage outlets at Disney Explorers Lodge, which is located near Hong Kong Disneyland on Lantau Island. The restaurant serves an international buffet at breakfast and a Chinese a la carte menu at dinner.
Where to Eat at Hong Kong Disneyland
Rural and classical dishes from different parts of China are served at Dragon Wind, an informal Chinese restaurant at Disney Explorers Lodge, one of the three Disney hotels located at Hong Kong Disneyland.
Reflecting the five elements, dishes at the stylish eatery are prepared at on-stage cooking stations, featuring seasonal ingredients sourced from throughout Hong Kong and China and complemented by herbs and spices.
MICE Showcase Media Tour
I was part of a MICE Showcase Media Tour, which was organized to familiarize journalists with the world-class facilities that the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park and the three hotels located nearby have to offer organizers of meetings, incentives, conferences, events, and weddings.
Our group comprised journalists, food critics, and travel bloggers from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
We started with breakfast and a tour of the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel. Then we walked along the waterfront to the Disney Explorers Lodge, where we toured the hotel rooms and the facilities.
We were then taken to Dragon Wind, where we were served a mouth-watering six-course lunch, which started with three appetizers, a soup, and three main courses and finished with a refreshing dessert platter.

Mickey Shape Pineapple Buns, Homemade Gelato with Mix Berries, Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Dumplings, and Seasonal Fruit.
The Breakfast Buffet
The restaurant serves an extensive breakfast buffet with stations serving both Chinese and international favourites.
There is everything from pastries, noodles, and dim sum to Indian and Western dishes and eggs cooked to order.
The Ambiance …
The restaurant has a spacious dining room decorated in soft earth tones. Paper-cut dragons are suspended from the ceiling overhead.
There is hardwood flooring and pictures windows that overlook a pan-Asian garden.
Food is prepared in an open kitchen with cooking stations.
The Verdict …
This was a well-paced meal in sophisticated surroundings.
I particularly liked the Braised Whole Abalone and Conpoy in Mickey Shape Winter. Melon. The Wok-fried Lobster Fillets with Asparagus in Spicy Anchovy Sauce was also outstanding.
The only disappointment was the dim sum at the end of the meal. The Siu Lung Pao with Pan-fried Wagyu Beef and Scallion Dumpling didn’t seem up to the standard of the other dishes that we were served.
Not to worry! All’s well that ends well, and I simply LOVED the pineapple bun served on the dessert platter!
The Secret Sauce …
The celebrated Hong Kong restaurant launched “Dragon Wind Spicy Anchovy Sauce”, which was created by Executive Chinese Chef Hui Kwok Tung, who has been cooking up a storm in Hong Kong restaurants for 30 years.
An expert in Hong Kong food, Chef Tung’s recipe consists of top quality of Yunnanese ham, anchovies, and red chili peppers. There are no added preservatives or artificial colourings.
The Hours …
The restaurant serves a breakfast buffet from 7.30 am to 11.00 am daily and a lunch buffet from 12.30 pm to 3 pm on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays.
The restaurant serves an a ala dinner menu from 5.30 pm to 10.30 pm.
