Hong Kong Restaurant Review: World of Color Restaurant at Disney Explorers Lodge

World of Color Restaurant is one of three food and beverage outlets at Disney Explorers Lodge, which is located near Hong Kong Disneyland on Lantau Island. An all-day dining restaurant, World of Color serves international buffets at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Where to Eat at Hong Kong Disneyland

World of Color a buffet restaurant at Disney Explorers Lodge, one of three hotels at Hong Kong Disneyland.

The restaurant is an all-day dining outlet, serving an eclectic menu of Chinese, pan-Asian, and Western dishes.

The contemporary dining room is lined with floor-to-ceiling pictures windows along one wall, offering views of a spice garden.

MICE Showcase Media Tour

I was part of a MICE Showcase Media Tour, which was organized to familiarize journalists with the world-class facilities that the Hong Kong Disneyland theme park and the three hotels located nearby have to offer organizers of meetings, incentives, conferences, events, and weddings.

Our group comprised journalists, food critics, and travel bloggers from China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

The World of Color Restaurant serves a “Dessert Moment” on weekends and public holidays.

Because we were on a press trip, an exception was made for us. Even though it was a week night, we were served mocktails, hors doeuvres, sweets, and beer on the second day of our three-day, two night tour.

After our snack, we were taken to the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel for a sumptuous Chinese banquet at the Crystal Lotus, a fine-dining Chinese restaurant.

We had breakfast at the World of Color on the final morning of our stay. Following breakfast, we were given passes to explore Hong Kong Disneyland on our own.

The restaurant serves a buffet breakfast consisting of fresh fruits and fruit juices, breads and pastries, salads, and eggs at breakfast. Eggs are cooked to order.

At lunch and dinner, the buffet menu runs from soups, salads, and pizzas to grilled meats and seafood to vegetarian dishes and curries.

Spanish paella, Thai dishes, and other favorites Asian and international favourites are also on the menu.

Not to be missed are the mouthwatering Mickey Mouse muffins – almost too cute to eat!

Disney characters wearing explorer outfits make appearances while breakfast is being served at the restaurant between 7.30 am and 11.00 am.

They visit each table, posing for photos. A photographer can take photos of you and your party using your camera or mobile device.

A word to the wise: make sure NOT to pose in front of one of the floor-to-ceiling windows.

If you do, chances are the photos will be washed out. Best to have your back facing the interior of the restaurant with the photographer’s back to the window.

Professional photos are also taken, which can be downloaded on line at an additional cost.

The Verdict …

The breakfast buffet at the World of Color is lighter and less extensive than the breakfast buffet at Dragon Wind, which is just a short walk away at the other end of Disney Explorers Lodge.

If you’re in the mood for a light breakfast, World of Color would be your choice. If you want a more substantial breakfast with more selections, opt for Dragon Wind.

The Hours …

The restaurant is open from 7.30 am to 10.00 pm Monday to Friday and 7.30 am to 10.30 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Make sure to double check hours before heading to the restaurant.

The Other Outlets …

World of Colour Restaurant is one of three food and beverage outlets at Disney Explorers Lodge. The other outlets include …

  • Dragon Wind – serving an international breakfast buffet and a la carte rustic and regional Chinese cuisine at dinner, Dragon Wind overlooks a pan-Asian garden.
  • Chart Room Cafe – serving specialty coffees, and casual fast food, the Chart Room Cafe is a great place for a snack or a light meal when time is of the essence.
