Warriors Team History

The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The Warriors are playing their final season in Oakland. Can they win one more championship for The Town?

The Warriors were founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1946. They played there until 1962, bringing the City of Brotherly Love championships in 1947 and 1956.

The Warriors moved to San Francisco in 1962 and were renamed the San Francisco Warriors.

The Warriors started playing some of their games in Oakland after the Oakland Arena opened. They officially moved across the bay in 1971 and were redubbed the Golden State Warriors.

Playing at Oracle Arena, they have won seven Western  Division Conference titles and six NBA championships.

After 47 seasons, the Warriors are playing their sunset season at the Oakland Arena, a.k.a. Oracle Arena. It is reputedly the loudest sports arena in the NBA.

The Warriors have won five straight division titles (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019). They were defeated by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016.
