Where to Stay in Pattaya

Chezzotel Pattaya is located in a fascinating part of a seaside resort near Bangkok. The rooms are stylish and comfortable, and shopping is just a few steps from the hotel lobby.  Check out this review of Chezzotel Pattaya, a boutique hotel off the beaten tourism track.

Why I’m Here …

I spent a month visiting Thailand. Following about 10 days in Bangkok, I took a taxi to Pattaya, which is the closest major beach resort to the Thai capital

First, I spent two wonderful nights at the Amari Ocean Pattaya, a five star property. The hotel was located across the street from Pattaya Beach.

After checking out of the Amari, I booked a ride on Uber to Chezzotel Pattaya. In contrast to the Amari, it was a different kind of hotel in a different part of town.

This gave me the chance to experience life in a less touristy area. While it was off the beaten tourism track, it was within walking distance of excellent shopping and leisure facilities.

I was hosted by the hotel for two nights in exchange for this review of Chezzotel Pattaya.

Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel is a charming boutique hotel. It is located on a quiet residential street off a major thoroughfare lined with shopping malls, food and beverage outlets, day spas – the list goes on.

The lobby of the Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel had stylish, Art Deco feel.

When I arrived in the lobby, I was greeted by the friendly staff. After checking in, I took my luggage to my room on the eighth floor.

My Two-Room Suite at the Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel

I stayed in room 508, a 40-square-meter suite. The suite had a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a small balcony.

A sliding glass door with a curtain separated the living room from the bedroom.

While the suite had contemporary feel, the neutral black and white colour scheme with gray accents had a stylish Art Deco vibe.

Facilities included wireless Internet, USB port, satellite TV programming, and an in-room safety box.

The Living Room …

The living room had a sofa that could double as a single bed. In front of the sofa was an oblong coffee table.

On the opposite wall was a ledge, which ran the length of the wall. Over the ledge was a flat screen television.

There was a kitchenette in one corner of the living room. First of all, the kitchenette had a  refrigerator that was much larger than the refrigerators found in most four or five star hotels.

Secondly, there was kitchen sink with a small drainboard next to it. Finally, the kitchenette had a microwave oven.

Next to the kitchenette was a banquet table with a padded bench, which two people could sit on.

On top of the table were two trays. The first tray held a hot water kettle, instant coffee, Dilmah teabags, sugar, Coffee Mate, two bottlers of complementary water, two mugs, and two glasses.

The other table held a selection of beverages and snacks. The beverages and snacks were complementary.

The Bedroom …

My bedroom has a king size bed and an LCD television mounted on the opposite wall.

To the right of the bed was a nightstand with a telephone on top. Next to the nightstand was an open-front closet. A sliding door led to the bathroom.

The Bathroom …

Nowhere was the Art Deco theme more apparent than in the bathroom, which had a dramatic black and white colour scheme.

But I also noted some subtle Sino-Portuguese design elements. For example, the floor tiles and the tiling on one of the walls were reminiscent of Portuguese azulejos.

The bathroom had a walk-in shower with a rain shower. There was a large counter to put toiletries on. However, the bathroom didn’t have a bathtub.

No loss for me! I rarely take baths when I stay at hotels. And I would rather take a shower in a walk-in shower than a bathtub with a shower head any day.

The bathroom had two sliding doors. One of the doors led to the living room. The other door led to the bedroom. The bathroom had a large mirror and a hair drier.

Breakfast was included with my room. It was served in a comfortable, well-designed cafe.

There was also a beverage bar with juices and coffee and tea making equipment.

On my first morning, there was buffet with salad makings, fruit, and cereals. In addition to the all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet, I was allowed to order a dish from the menu.

I made a yummy salad for myself and ordered an a dish from the menu

On my second morning, the salad bar had disappeared. Instead, I was served a salad prepared in the kitchen.

I have to be honest, I preferred the salad I made myself (pictured above) to the one made in the kitchen.

Adjoining the breakfast room was a comfortable co-working space. It was stylishly decorated and bathed in light.

There were comfortable chairs and convenient work stations. The layout included sofas with tables appropriate for socializing.

Swimming Pool at Chezzotel Pattaya

If Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel had a unique selling point, it would have to be the infinity swimming pool.

Located on the roof, the pool was bathed in sunshine most of the day. Furthermore, it was lined with lounge chairs for sun worshipers.

Semi-open cabanas offered countless photo opps for newlyweds. In fact, I witnessed a couple of couples taking selfies during my two-night stay.

Best of all, the pool was long enough to do proper laps in. In fact, it was 45 metres long and 120 metres deep.  For me, this was a major plus!

Because it was located on the roof, the swimming pool offered sweeping view of the city. I understand that the sunsets over Pattaya Beach were especially dramatic.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to witness any sunsets during my brief, stay. Wish that I could have stayed at this stylish boutique hotel longer!

While Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel is located on a quiet residential street, it is just a few steps from bustling Central Pattaya Road.

Restaurants and cafes, day spas, shops, boutiques, pharmacies, money changers, and other kinds of retail outlets are all within a short walk. In fact, two large shopping malls are just a few steps from the front door!

Best of all, from my point of view, was the 24-hour Foodland supermarket, which was located right next door to the hotel!

I could easily make a mouth-watering salad for a low cost at the salad bar and bring it back to my stylish hotel room.

The Verdict

I totally enjoyed my short stay at the Chezzotel Pattaya Hotel. The room was well-thought out, and location was convenient, and I particularly liked the roof-top swimming.

I would have happily stayed a few days longer!
