Four Points by Sheraton Pleasanton is a stylish hotel in the heart of the Tri-Valley area near San Francisco. This wealthy community is dotted with great restaurants, lots of wineries, a quaint downtown, a world-class museum. And it’s close to the Oakland Coliseum!

Why I’m Here …
So what was I doing in Pleasanton?
Pleasanton is a city in Southern Alameda, California. It is about 25 miles (40 kilomters) east of Oakland.
Not only that, it is ranked as the wealthiest middle sized city in the United States. It is Considered one of the four best cities in the country to live in. And it has a population of nearly 70,300 people.
More importantly, Pleasanton was a stop on the Northern California leg of my epic trip, 70 Days Across America.
My stay was arranged by Visit Tri-Valley, which represents the three valleys surrounding Mount Diablo.
In addition to Pleasanton, featured cities include Danville, Dublin, and Livermore.
My previous stops included San Francisco, Los Altos, Napa Valley, Concord, and Oakland.
My Arrival …
I took BART from downtown Oakland to Dublin/Pleasanton. And the trip took just over 30 minutes.
The Oakland Athletics were playing, and there were lots of fans wearing Green and Yellow heading in the opposite direction!
When I arrived, I wasn’t sure how to get to the hotel. Unfortunately, it didn’t occur to me to see if the hotel had a shuttle.
So I ended up calling Uber. Little did I know the hotel was just a 10 minute walk from the station.
The hotel had a welcoming lobby, which opened directly onto the spacious gardens. Flowers, ponds, and fountains dotted the well-manicured space..
My Room …
I stayed in room 606 of the hotel. Located on the ground floor, the room was 375-square feet. That is 34 square meters. Also, the room had air conditioning, and it was non-smoking,
In addition to the king-size bed, the room had an armchair with a side table.
The bathroom had a long, marble topped vanity. Moreover, there was a large mirror with ample lighting. Finally, there was a combination bathtub/shower.
As a travel blogger, I spend a lot of my time on the computer. So I particularly liked the lengthy workstation..
Firstly, there was an electrical outlet with dual voltage adaptors. Secondly, the high- speed Internet was complimentary. Finally, the ergonomic chair was especially comfortable.
The Restaurant …
The hotel had an excellent restaurant and lounge. And it was open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The Swimming Pool …
The swimming pool was set amid landscaped gardens. There was a whirlpool at one end of the pool.
Most importantly, the pool big enough to do proper laps in. In fact, it was one of the largest swimming pools of the many hotels I stayed at on this trip..
The Grounds…
If the hotel had a unique selling proposition, it would have to be the beautifully landscaped grounds.
The facilities …
The hotel had a reasonably well-equipped fitness room. For example. there were cardiovascular machines and free weights.
However, the number of resistance training machines was limited. In fact, I would have liked a few more.
Also, while the gym was open 24/7, there were no trainers or classes.
In addition to the gym, there was a vending machine selling soda and a self-service ice maker off the the lobby.
Finally, there were banquet facilities and meeting rooms.
What I Loved …
If this hotel had a unique selling proposition, it would have to be the sprawling gardens. I especially liked the restful walk from the hotel lobby to my room. The restaurant was also first-rate.
What I Hated …
Actually, there was nothing not to like. I’m at a loss for words. Perhaps, a bit more equipment in the fitness room?
The Verdict …
Overall, this was a stylish hotel, with lots of pluses. I’ll give it an enthusiastic one thumb’s up!
And I would recommend it for Oakland A’s fans wanting to spend the night. Why drive to the coliseum and pay the high parking fees?
The trip by BART only takes about 20 minutes!

Pleasanton is a part of the Tri-Valley Area in Southern Alameda County. It is roughly 39 miles east of San Francisco. The drive takes about 50 minutes. It is roughly 31 miles from Oakland. The drive takes about 40 minutes.
If you don’t drive, the hotel can be reached by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). The Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station is a 10 minute walk from the hotel.
- In fact, the hotel would be a good choice for Oakland A’s fans that don’t want to stay in the immediate vicinity of the Oakland Coliseum.
