The Wyndham Grand Awashima is located on an uninhabited island in Suruga Bay in Numazu City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
The island has a circumference of 2.5 kilometers and an elevation of 137 meters. In fact, it is covered with plants and rocks of various shapes.
Hotel guests reach the hotel by boat. And the trip takes five minutes. It departs from Awashima Pier.
Awashima is a hamlet situated in Niigata Prefecture on the west coast of central Japan. Actually, it is an off-shore island in the Sea of Japan.
The tiny town has a declining population. In fact, there were only 365 residents in 2016, down from 680 in 1970.
Awashima is 30 kilometres (19 miles) west of Murakami, which has a population of 58,309. The Awashima Kisen Ferry connects Awashima with Murakami.

The hotel has three food and beverage outlets. In addition, it has an outdoor Japanese style hot spring and a concert hall. And finally, it shares a private island with a small marine park.
The Wyndham Grand Awashima is an all-suite hotel. In fact it has 60 suites. And all of them have sweeping ocean views.
In fact, hotel guests can see Japan’s iconic Mount Fuji in the background.
Rooms on standards floors measure 59 square meters And they can sleep up to two hotel guests. In addition, there are 78-square-meter suites, which also suite up to two people.
Both Western and Japanese style suites measure 93 square meters. And they can sleep up to four people.
Executive floor suites come in four sizes: 70 square meters, 78 square meters, 128 square meters, and 190 square meters.
Regardless of size, executive floor suites can only sleep two hotel guests.

The Wyndham Grand Awashima has three food and beverage outlets.
Island – the hotel’s main restaurant, Island serves a French cuisine. It has a nautical theme. Open for dinner only.
Kai – as the hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Kai serves seasonal menu of dishes with seafood sourced at the market in Shizuoka. The restaurant has a teppanyaki corner, where chefs prepare dishes in front of your very eyes. Open for dinner only.
Le Fahr – overlooking the garden, Le Fahr serves an international menu. Open for breakfast and lunch.
Wyndham Grand Awashima Facilities
The hotel has an onsen, which is an outdoor hot spring. In addition, the hotel has a concert hall. Otherwise, the hotel’s facilities are limited.
For example, there is no swimming pool. In the same vein, there is not fitness room.
And unlike many other Japaneses hotels, there is no convenience store.
So you will have to either each in one of the hotel’s food and beverage outlets. Otherwise, you will have to take the boat into town.
Awashima Marine Park
The hotel shares the island with the Awashima Marine Park. Other than that, there are no other commercial establishments.
Consequently, the environment is pristine and natural. And it makes the island the perfect spot to unwind and get in touch with nature.
The park’s attractions include a dolphin pool, California sea lions, a frog house, a turtle pool, Humboldt penguins, and a fishing pond.
