August – a good time to visit Sweden? The weather in Sweden remains pleasant in August, with warm temps and long days. While pride celebrations are held throughout the country, they will be scaled back this year because of the pandemic.

Stockholm Pride – 2 to 8 August 2021

From Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north, Pride celebrations are held in August each year throughout Sweden.
And activities include conferences, lectures, performances, and Pride parades.
Not surprisingly, the biggest celebrations are held in Stockholm, the nation’s capital. And the Key to Freedom is the theme of Stockholm Pride in 2021.
To clarify, the slogan is meant as a reminder that Pride celebrations originated as protest marches in the fight to be free to be who you are and love whom you want.
Pride Stage
Pride Stage at Södra Teatern will have stage programmes on the big stage. And they will be streamed digitally.
Moreover, the traditional hit night will take place again on Thursday 5 August and Saturday 7 August, with a big closing gala.
Performers will include Swedish singer and songwriter Dotter and  Tommy Körberg, a Swedish singer, actor, and musician.
Pride House
Seminars and talks will be held at Pride House at Clarion Stockholm. And if restrictions allow, they will be open to the public. However, the programme will also be filmed so that more people can take part.
Pride Fair
New this year, Pride Fair will be a rainbow market that will offer everything from crafts, books, and all the Pride accessories. In addition, there will be a smaller stage for author talks and acoustic live acts.
Pride Parade

Owing to the pandemic, it is not possible to hold the traditional pride parade in Stockholm in 2021.
Instead, a hybrid of digital presentations focusing on the historical perspectives of Pride Parades will be broadcast on Saturday afternoon.
And these will be mixed with live reports from the LGBTQ community.
Pride Ung
This year, Pride Ung will create digital content via Pride House for this important target group – young people aged from 13 to25.
As far as possible, physical meeting places will also be created with various kinds of programmes.
Malmo Pride – 12 to 22 August 2021
WorldPride is being held jointly by Malmo Pride and Happy Copenhagen. To clarify, the event will be a celebration of equality, arts, and human rights,
Events will include two Pride parades, parties, music performances, a Youth park, art and culture, and a gigantic WorldPride House.
- NOTE: Some Swedish cities will hold Pride celebrations in September.
Weather in Sweden in August
The weather in August is relatively warm. However, adults are returning to work. And children are returning to school. If you are lucky, you might be able to attend a crayfish party!

Umea Weather in August

Umea is Sweden’s 13th largest city. And it is the gateway to Swedish Lapland.
The average high temperature in Umea in August is 20 degrees Celsius, or 68 degrees Fahrenheit. But at night, the temperature drops to an average low of 10 degrees Celsius, or 49 degrees Fahrenheit.
What to Pack
August is one of the best months of the year to visit Sweden. In fact, it is the ideal season for outdoor activities.
You won’t need to pack a lot of extra clothes. But keep in mind that it can get chilly at night so bring layers. And it does rain occasionally, so bring an umbrella.
