Vietnam: Annual Black Tie Wine and Dine Cruise Through Halong Bay

Travel and Tourism

The Emeraude Wine and Dine Cruise Classic has got to be one of the most glamorous events on the Vietnamese social calender. Now in its ninth year, it will be held on 25 May 2013.

The itinerary will begin with a get acquainted breakfast at the Press Club Hanoi. Guests will then be transported to Halong City, where they will board the Emeraude, a 1930s style paddle wheel steamboat, for a cruise through Halong Bay.

And if you haven’t been to Halong Bay – which is dotted with massive karsks – I can assure you that this is one of the most breathtakingly beautiful spots on the planet.

Following a seafood buffet lunch, the boat will drop anchor at Soi Sim Island, where guests can disembark to soak up some rays on the beach.

Cocktails and Tapas on the Sundeck

As evening approaches, they will return to the boat, where cocktails and tapas will be served on the sundeck while the suns sinks slowly into the sea.

Switching to formal attire, guests will return to the island, where a four course black tie will be served in a cave. Afterwards, there will be dancing into the wee hours on board the boat.

“It’s a cinematic experience,” says Kurt Walter, general manager of Emeraude Classic Cruises.

“To see people in black tie promenading the decks, with the karsts looming all around, and the Emeraude, the moonlight and the dark waters as a backdrop — well, ‘mesmerizing’ is the only word that really comes close to describing it.”
