Top 10 American Restaurants in Bangkok

Bangkok is full of American restaurants, and 10 of the best are listed below. But for one of the best July 4th spreads in Thailand, you might just want to head down to Pattaya, where an acclaimed Michelin-starred chef is pulling out all the stops at a newly opened eatery.

Americans will celebrate the 242nd anniversary of the signing on the Declaration of Independence on Wednesday 4 July 2018.

That means a day off work in the United States with picnics, trips to the beach, parades down Main Street, and explosive fireworks displays after dark.

When it comes to food, perennial Fourth of July favourites include BBQ, fried chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, watermelon – the list goes on.

Officially known as Independence Day, July Fourth is one of the most important holidays of the year in the United States.

In Thailand, of course, July Fourth is just another day – except at a handful of restaurants that will offer set menus or special promotions.

Targeted at members of the American community, which numbers in the tens of thousands, these restaurants are also popular with Bangkokians, who have a increasing hunger for American fare.

But first, a look that what’s going on in Pattaya …

Michelin Starred Chef Opens Eatery in Pattaya

Harlan Goldstein (second from right) with staff at Comfort Food for Friends.

Harlan Goldstein of Brooklyn New York, has taken Pattaya, Thailand, by storm with the March opening of his eponymous eatery, Harlan Goldstein’s Comfort Food for Friends.

Located near the beach in Pattaya’s Bang Lamung District, the restaurant has a relatively short but eclectic menu, which is just the way I like it!

I hate having to wade through an encyclopedic menu that goes on for days. I prefer a carefully curated list of culinary showstoppers – especially when old favourites are given a new twist by a chef with pedigree.

Harlan has been awarded Michelin stars not once – but twice! – at other kitchens he had manned.

Is It Worth the Trip?

There are plenty of American restaurants in Bangkok and plenty more restaurants with American grub on the menu.

If you find yourself in Pattaya on the Fourth of July, however, you might just want to check out Harlan Goldstein’s Comfort Food for Friends.

Would it be worth the 90 minute drive south? Check out what’s on offer, and you be the judge!
