70 Days Across America

Why I’m Here …
So what was I doing in Pleasanton?
Pleasanton is a city in Southern Alameda, California. It is about 25 miles (40 kilomters) east of Oakland.
Not only that, it is ranked as the wealthiest middle sized city in the United States. It is ranked as one of the four best cities in the country to live in. And it has a population of nearly 70,300 people.
More importantly, Pleasanton was a stop on the Northern California leg of my epic trip, 70 Days Across America.
My stay was arranged by Visit Tri-Valley, which represents the three valleys surrounding Mount Diablo. In addition to Pleasanton, featured cities include Danville, Dublin, and Livermore.
Menu at Faz Restaurant and Bar Pleasanton
The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. At breakfast there are several options. They include a full breakfast buffet, a continental breakfast, and several a la carte breakfast options.
At lunch and dinner, the restaurant serves a Mediterranean-inspired menu with Persian touches.
Firstly, there are starters and salads. Secondly, there are pizzas from a wood-burning brick oven and several pasta dishes.
In addition, there are several mesquite roasted kabobs. Finally, fresh fish, New York steaks, tikka masala, and hamburgers are sauteed or served from the grill.
Finally, there is also a bar and lounge serving Mediterranean bites and handcrafted cocktails.
My Dinner at the Faz Resturant and Bar …
I enjoyed a yummy three course dinner on the first night of my two-night stay at Four Points by Sheraton Pleasanton.
Passion Plate – this was sort of an amuse bouche. It came shortly after my order was taken.
- OMG! I liked it so much, I asked my server what was in it. He told me it was the chef’s “secret recipe”. It contained Tabbouleh, roasted garlic, Parmesan cheese, and olive oil. YUM!!!
Mediterranean Platter – Hummus, Tabbouleh, Babaghanoush, Grape Leaf Dolmas, Imported Olives, Tomatoes, and Pepperoncini’s vegetables.
- Wow! This was a meal in itself!
Judeh – marinated boneless chicken thigh, served with saffron Basmati rice, roasted Roma tomato, and seasonal vegetables. In this case, it was broccoli and carrots.
- Mouthwatering! The chicken was perfectly cooked. And the Basmati rice was beautifully seasoned. My mouth waters just thinking about it!
Cheese Cake with Fresh Berries – New York style cheese cake topped with whipped cream and seasonal berries.
- The perfect conclusion to a perfect dinner!
I washed my starters and main course down with Riva Ranch Chardonnay by Wente. The wine-maker’s vineyard is located in nearby Monterey County.
‘Our … Chardonnay opens with bold oak aromatics, complemented by rich tropical fruit such as pineapple to white nectarine and sweet baking spices on the palate, finishing with a round mouthfeel’. – Wente Vineyards
I washed my dessert down with a cup of excellent espresso.
The Ambiance and Service at Faz Restaurant and Bar Pleasanton
The restaurant had a warm ambiance, cheerful at lunch, subdued at night. You could sit inside or on an outdoor patio, with a view of the citrus garden and bubbling fountains.
Regarding the service, it was both professional and friendly. And my server helped me choose an excellent wine to complement my meal.
The Verdict …
Faz Restaurant and Bar Pleasanton gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up! The food, the service, and the ambiance were all top-notch.
Overall, food standards in Northern California are high. And this was one of the most enjoyable meals I had in the Golden State.
