Considering Bangkok’srelatively small Irish expat community, the city has a relatively large number of Irish pubs, Irish sports bars, and Irish restaurants.
And a surprisingly large number of them serve authentic Irish fare.  Maybe that’s because you don’t have to be Irish to enjoy a good time at a good old-fashioned Irish pub!

Food at Irish Pubs in Thailand

Most of the Irish pubs, Irish sports bars, and Irish restaurants in Bangkok serve mixed menus, with a combination of international favorites, standard sports bar fare, popular Thai dishes, and some classic dishes from the Emerald Isle.
It is assumed that you will have no problem finding eateries serving soups or salads, steaks or seafood – not to mention hamburgers, pizzas, and nachos.
So they aren’t mentioned in this post. You can assume that most – if not all – the of the places listed below serve them. Therefore, the focus will be exclusively on the Irish dishes featured on their menus,
Music at Irish Pubs in Thailand

Most of the Irish pubs in Bangkok and the Irish sports bars in Bangkok have live music. But if you are hoping for traditional Irish music played on the diffle, tin whistle, accordion,  bodhrán, or uilleann pipes, you are likely to be disappointed.
You are more likely to hear rock, pop covers, and contemporary hits performed by local musicians.
There will, of course, be the occasional exception. Occasionally, Irish musicians do perform at Irish pubs in Bangkok. Just monitor websites and Facebook pages to keep yourself informed.
Sports at Irish Pubs in Thailand

Most Irish pubs and Irish sports bars in Bangkok have flat screen televisions that broadcast sporting events live. They range from soccer, rugby, and cricket to American football, basketball, baseball, and ice hockey.
If they’re not showing what you want to see, ask. They will usually be willing to switch one of the TVs to the event you want to watch.
Many of the Irish sports bars and Irish pubs in Bangkok have pool tables, darts, and other amusements.

Flann O’Brien’s Irish Pub

Fans of 20th Century Irish literature can be forgiven if they think they’ve mysteriously entered the pages of a Flann O’Brien novel when they set foot in this eponymous Irish pub in Bangkok. In fact, this is no laughing matter!
But seriously, with its cozy and inviting ambiance, this atmospheric Irish pub is pretty much the way a public house in Dublin would be described in one of O’Brien’s most engaging and thought-provoking novels. Take this evocative quote from his highly celebrated masterpiece, At Swim-Two-Birds, for example: “There is no better place than a snug corner of an Irish pub, where the hum of conversation and clink of glasses create a haven of warmth and camaraderie.”
As for the food, you can expect a hearty and delicious menu featuring classic Irish fare paired with a pint of Guinness. Think: Braised Irish Lamb Shank, Beef & Guinness Pie, Homemade Irish Lamb Stew, Bangers & Mash, and Irish Leek Soup.

O’Leary’s Irish Pub Bangkok

This cozy Irish pub is located on an alley off Sukhumvit Road (known as a “soi” in Thai), and it’s famous for its delicious meat pies. Of the four pies on the menu, I opted for the Beef Guinness Pie, which was a pretty obvious choice.
Can you guess what I washed it down with? I must say, it was absolutely delicious. Rather than pairing it with “chips” (that’s French fries to Americans), I opted for the garden salad. It made a perfect dinner.
There are flat screen TVs showing rugby, soccer, cricket, and other sports as well as darts and pool. There a small patio overlooking the soi.
The night I was there, a very talented musician was serenading the gathering. Apparently, they have live music three nights a week: Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
