JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort and Spa is one of several luxurious five-star properties to open in the Phu Quoc region of Southern Vietnam. Designed by Bill Bensley, the hotel's inspiration was the fictitious Lamarck University.
Located on the coast in Southern Vietnam, Phu Quoc is growing in popularity as a tourist destination. There are beautiful beaches, dense tropical rain forests, and several key tourist attractions, including a UNESCO biosphere reserve, making it a great base for ecotourists.
With a beautiful new airport terminal, airlines lining up to launch new service to travel destinations from Phu Quoc International Airport. That includes not only nearby travel destinations such as Korea and Thailand. Britain, Finland, and Sweden are also the airport's radar screen.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort and Spa has recently opened along the shores of one of the district's loveliest beaches.
The hotel was designed by renowned Bangkok-based architect Bill Bensley, who has been called "the king of exotic luxury resorts". His portfolio includes more than 100 prestigious properties in 26 countries.
The inspiration for hotel's architecture and interior design was a fictitious tertiary institution called Lamarck University. A campus, of sorts, the hotel is full of whimsical touches.
Accommodation
The JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerld Bay has 244, units, including 216 rooms and 28 suites, and most of them have panoramic views of Emerald Bay.
Hotel rooms have one king size bed or two double beds, one and one-half or two full bathrooms, a view of the sea, and either a balcony or a terrace with direct access to the swimming pool.
One bedroom villas have a king size bed, a garden view, and a private pool. Three bedroom villas have king sized beds in two of the bedrooms and a double bed in one of the bedrooms. They have two bathrooms.
Suitable for multiple-generation families or groups of friends or business partners, Lamark House has four bedrooms, they face the sea, and they have private pools.
Rooms have marble bathrooms with large tubs and lighted makeup mirrors. High-speed Intenet access is complimentary.
Food + Beverage
The hotel has five food and beverage outlets. Each one of the outlets has a different vibe, different hours, and a different menu.
- Tempus Fugit – an all-day dining restaurant serving international cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
- Pink Pearl – opening soon, a Chinese restaurant. Open for dinner only.
- Red Rum – overlooking the bay, a grill serving fresh seafood. Open for lunch and dinner.
- Department of Chemistry Bar – an American style cocktail lounge overlooking the bay. Open for dinner.
- French and Co – a French style deli serving pastries. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Facilities
The hotel has an outdoor swimming pool, a children’s pool, a whirlpool, a fitness centre, a biking trail, a jogging trail, and a full service spa with plunge pools, steam rooms, and therapy baths.
The fitness centre has cardio-vascular equipment and free weights. Complimentary fitness classes are offered. Kayaking, snorkeling, boating, and biking are offered.
There are also seven meeting rooms with a total of 11,151 of meeting space.
Pearl Island 101
Phu Quoc, also known as Pearl Island, is located in the south of Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand.
An up-and-coming tourist destination, the island is known for its long, sweeping beaches, rich coral reefs, and dense, tropical jungle. There are also several popular tourist attractions.
Popular attractions include Phu Quoc National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, and Dinh Cau Temple, built in 1937 to honour Thien Hau, the Goddess of the Sea.
Other local attractions include Vinpearl Land, Phu Quoc National Park, Duong Dong Night Market, and the Ham Ninh Pier and Fishing Village.
Transport
The hotel is an eight minutes’ drive from Phu Quoc International Airport, which has a beautiful new terminal building. The field is served by eight airlines.
Jetstar Pacific Airlines, VietJet Air, and Vietnam Airlines fly to such domestic travel destinations as Can Tho, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Rach Gia.
Lucky Air flies to Kunming, China. China Southern Airlines flies in Guangzhou, China. Seasonal charter flights are offered to several other Chinese cities.
Flights to several other foreign travel destinations will be launched this year.
- Asiana Airlines will launch seasonal chartered flights to Seoul-Incheon, Korea, in September;
- Bangkok Airways will launch flights to Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, Thailand, in October;
- Thomson Airways will launch seasonal flights to Helsinki, Finland, in December, London-Gatwick in November, and Stockholm-Arlanda, in November.
The airport is currently being upgraded and expected to welcome more than four million travelers per year. A visa exempt rule grants international visitors 30 days upon arrival.
