Stockholm Pride – 27 July to 2 August 2026

From Malmö in the south to Kiruna in the north, Pride celebrations are held in summer and fall each year throughout Sweden. And activities include conferences, lectures, performances, and Pride parades.
Not surprisingly, the biggest celebrations are held in Stockholm, the nation’s capital. And each year there is a different theme.
Pride Parade – 1 August 2026

The Pride Parade winds its way through Central Stockholm. As the largest pride parade in Scandinavia, it usually attracts about 60,000 marchers, with around 500,000 and 600,000 people lining the streets.
Medieval Week – 2 to 9 August 2026

Medeltidsveckan, known as Medieval Week in English, transforms Visby into a living medieval city, complete with jousting tournaments, markets, theater, and music. It is Sweden’s largest historical festival.
Founded in 1984, the event has grown into one of Sweden’s most distinctive cultural festivals, attracting visitors from across Europe. The UNESCO World Heritage town of Visby provides an authentic backdrop, making the experience immersive and unforgettable.
More than 20 venues across Visby, the main town on Gotland, an island in the Baltic Sea with about 60,000 residents. Approximately 350 kilometers, or 220 miles, south of Stockholm, including ferry travel. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours.
Way Out West – 13 to 15 August 2026

Way Out West is Sweden’s premier international music festival, held in Gothenburg’s Slottsskogen Park. Since its launch in 2007, it has featured global stars in pop, rock, hip‑hop, and electronic music, alongside cutting‑edge Scandinavian acts. The festival is also known for its strong sustainability profile, banning meat sales and promoting eco‑friendly practices.
Slottsskogen Park – Gothenburg, Sweden’s second‑largest city with about 600,000 residents. Approximately 470 kilometers, or 290 miles, southwest of Stockholm. The drive takes about 5.5 hours.
Stockholm Culture Festival – 13 to 17 August 2026

Stockholm Culture Festival, known officially as Kultur Festivalen, is a free city‑wide celebration of music, dance, theater, art, and food. Central Stockholm is transformed into a vibrant cultural hub, with hundreds of performances and activities for all ages. The festival attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, making it one of Sweden’s largest cultural events.

Midnattsloppet – 15 August 2026

Midnattsloppet is a 10‑kilometer midnight run through Stockholm’s Södermalm district attracting almost 40,000 participants and 250,000 spectators. There are samba bands, DJs, and lively crowds along the route. The festive atmosphere makes it as much a cultural event as a sporting competition.

Formex – 18 to 21 August 2026

Formex is Scandinavia’s leading interior design and lifestyle trade fair, held twice a year at Stockholmsmässan. It showcases trends in furniture, textiles, and home décor, attracting professionals from across the Nordic region and beyond. With hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of visitors, it is a key event for the design industry.
