On his 3rd and final day staying at the Aloft Guangzhou University Park, Michael Taylor tours Lingnan Impression Park, a collection of renovated and reproduced Cantonese style shop houses and temples
Lingnan Impression Park is located a short walk from Aloft Guangzhou University Park.
Covering 40.7 acres, or 16.5 hectares, the park houses a collection of Cantonese style shophouses and temples.
Some of the gray brick buildings that line Lianxi Street appear to be original buildings that have been renovated, and others are quite obviously reproductions of traditional structures.
The buildings house shops selling everything from handicrafts to snacks to souvenirs. There is an outdoor theatre, a photography studio, a marshall arts museum, a brewery – the list goes on.
There are also 8 ancestral temples, a handful of performance venues, a rich family’s mansion, numerous restaurants and tea houses, and a coffee house serving surprisingly good coffee.
On the day that we visited, the park was full of school children on school outings. If you go, make sure to attend one of the spectacular shows that are staged at the open air ampitheatre.
