Dusti International is building a teaching hotel in Manila, the capital of the Philippines.

The Dusit Hospitality Management College (DHMC) will be fully integrated with the 125-room dusitD2 The Fort, Manila. It is scheduled to open in 2017.

Dusit already has one hotel in the Philippines: the Dusit Thani Manila. Another hotel in Davao will open soon.

DHMC will offer degree programmes in hospitality certified by École Hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), a hospitality training school in Switzerland, as well as professional advancement and culinary programmes in collaboration with the Institut Paul Bocuse, a hospitality and tourism school in France.

Practical Work Experience

Facilities will include practical kitchens, restaurants, and function rooms. Recreational facilities will include a swimming pool and fitness centre.

In addition to taking classes, students will gain work experience in various departments of the hotel.

Two tertiary institutions offer similar partnerships with hotels in Hong Kong.

The Hotel Icon offers a “learning environment” in which the students in the School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) at Hong Kong Polytechnic University gain work experience while pursuing and academic degree in hospitality and tourism

Located adjacent to the main campus of the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the New Territories, the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin, is a commercial hotel with teaching facilities in a building located next door.

The arrangement gives students at the university’s School of Hotel and Tourism Management (SHTM) a chance to learn from Hyatt executives in specially designed training rooms.

Students in the programme also run and manage a café, which is located in the teaching facilities.
