Hotel Review: Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Offers Value

The 900th Marriott in the world and the first Marriott hotel in Bali, Indonesia, the Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua is located within the gated Nusa Dua tourism zone, which has several four and five star resorts, private villas, a shopping mall targeted at tourists, an 18 hole golf course, a museum, and a convention and exhibition centre.

There are also many free standing restaurants and cafés, bar and pubs, mini markets, and shops and boutiques – all in within easy walking distance. And if you’re lazy, it’s raining, or it’s a bit too hot or humid to walk, you can always take the shuttle.

Not only that, most hotels (including this one) have their own transport – and many of the nearby restaurants will drive you home at no charge as long as you are within the complex.

Five Star Facilities at Four Star Prices

The Courtyard by Marriott Bali has 259 rooms and suites with either balcony or terrace. We were booked into a corner room on the ground floor with a terrace that was a few short steps from the stunningly beautiful free form swimming pool, which is set amid a landscaped garden.

Courtyard by Marriott Bali has three food and beverage outlets. There is an attractive deli called MoMo 2 off the lobby, with light snacks that can be consumed on site or taken back to your room. With an outdoor terrace overlooking the swimming pool, MoMo Café offers breakfast buffets and an ala carte fashion menu for lunch and dinner.

A poolside bar serves cold drinks and tasty snacks. There is live entertainment and two for one drinks during the nightly happy hour.

The Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua represents excellent value. Aesthetically, it has all the trappings of a five star resort. The architecture, the interior design, and the landscaping are all first rate.

It has several activities each day, such as aqua stretching, aqua aerobics, and Zumba – most of them free.

The rooms, while not as large as those in a five star resort, are attractive, well laid out, and highly functional.

While not located directly on the beach, a shuttle bus will take you there, and the resort has its own small club house with an informal eatery serving snacks and beverages.

But, hey! We’ve stayed at five star PLUS villas at five to six times the cost that weren’t located right on the beach, either. And we also had to take a shuttle to get there so we’re not complaining.

And speaking of price, not only are the rooms one half to one third the price of those at a five star resort, so is everything else – from the drinks to the food to the massages.

Okay, so the resort doesn’t have a fine dining restaurant of its own. With the money you save on your room (and everything else), you can head for one of those nearby five star resorts and eat your heart out – with impunity.
