Philippines Travelogue: Where to Eat Your Way Around the World

Cebu Adventure Part 12

Michael Taylor spends his last three nights in Cebu at the Plantation Bay Resort & Spa. While there, he is spoilt for choice when it comes to food and beverage.

You can practically eat your way around the world at the Plantation Bay Resort & Spa, and not just because the sprawling resort has four food and beverage outlets. The menu at some of the outlets also varies from day to day.

Here’s a quick overview of what’s on offer …

Kilimanjaro – serving international cuisine, this popular eatery is open 24 seven. This is where most guests have breakfast. While breakfast staples are served every day, you can also expect Mexican, French, Filipino, Chinese, or Louisiana specialties depending on the day of the week.

Fiji – located on the beach, this indoor/outdoor restaurant serves dishes from throughout the Pacific Rim. The tempura and sukiyaki soup are especially recommended. Rumour has it, in fact, that office workers in town travel all the way to Mactan for the sukiyaki soup at lunch time!

Palermo – Mediterranean dishes are featured at this fine dining restaurant, which also serves light breakfasts in the morning for those that don’t want to over reat at the buffet tables at Kilimanjaro.  The Spanish tapas are yummy – make sure to order the Gambas, fried shrimp with crunchy garlic. The Italian pastas, meanwhile, range from the tried and true to such unexpected (but mouth watering) concoctions as  the fusilli con gorgonzola – pasta in blue cheese and macademia nut white sauce.

Savanah Grill – Nothing beats a good hamburger, and the hamburgers at Savannah Grill are as good as they get. The hamburger I sink my teeth into on my last day is, in fact, quite possibly the yummiest thing I have eaten during my 11 days in Cebu. You’ll also find hotdogs, steaks, and salads – as well as killer cocktails in the karaoke lounge next door.
