New Year’s Eve in Times Square i 2021
A live show will kick off the Times Square New Year’s Eve celebrations earlier in the evening.
Headline acts will be Gloria Gaynor and Andra Day.
Andra will perform her Grammy Award-nominated single “Rise Up,” as well as her song “Forever Mine.”
And she will continue the New Year’s Eve tradition of singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” just before the Ball Drop.
Two-time Grammy winner Gloria Gaynor will perform her classic hit, “I Will Survive” and two other songs.
When the clock strikes 12 midnight, thousands of pieces of confetti will rain down upon the revelers in Times Square. Each piece will contain a wish from someone across the globe.
The skies over Manhattan and two locations in Brooklyn – Prospect Park and Coney Island – will erupt in a blaze of spectacular pyrotechnics.
If you are more interested in the fireworks than the ball drop, the best spots to view them are in Central Park south of  72nd Street or from the deck of one of the cruise lines that will host New Year’s Eve cruises.
How to Beat the Crowds
The crowds in Times Square can be intimidating. People  start lining up to enter what is called the Lock Down Zone in the morning.
The police start letting people enter the Lock Down Zone at 3 pm. They stop letting people enter the zone when it becomes full, which is usually a few hours before midnight.
Keep in mind that there are no public toilets in the Lock Down Zone.

If someone in your group doesn’t like to drink, he or she can serve as a designated driver, making sure that those that do like to drink don’t get behind the wheel.
But the fact is, even if you don’t drink, many others on the road will be drunk, and traffic accidents are common.
